Are you feeling stuck, lost or unsure where to turn? You don't have to figure it out alone. My name is Holly and I am an Art Therapist, Licensed Counselor and artist. I am passionate about working with individuals and couples struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, addictions and unhealthy relationship patterns. I am confident that I can help you to heal and move forward into a life in which you feel secure, joyful and capable.
I am a Registered Art Therapist (ATR) and Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I have over 10 years of experience providing trauma informed mental health care to individuals and groups, in inpatient and outpatient mental health settings.
I started my private practice in 2021.
The therapeutic relationship is a partnership. You are the expert on yourself and your life. You have the answers you seek, although it may not feel that way right now. I am here to support, guide and stand by you as you find those answers. As we work together, we will co-create a therapeutic experience that gets you where you want to be. You will begin to heal, grow and and rely on yourself more and more each day.
After our initial intake session, we will determine together what you most need to meet your goals. I will provide tangible tools right away that you can utilize between sessions. I take an intuitive approach, pulling from my training in Art Therapy, DBT, Internal Family Systems, EMI (Eye movement integration) and Gottman Couples Counseling. I take a holistic approach looking at mind, body and spirit of each client. I love incorporating visual art and somatic practices in sessions, to help you connect to your body, and heal in a deep, efficient and effective way. If you have tried therapy before and felt it hasn't "worked", Art therapy can be a great tool to try something different!
I personally know reaching out for help can be daunting, and the work of therapy can be extremely challenging at times. You may be thinking, "I wouldn't even know where to start". I can help with that. Just start. Start showing up and be open to the process. Decide that you want to start showing up for yourself. I also know from personal experience that when you put in the work and are open to asking for and receiving the support you need, the results can be beyond what you expected. I know that it is possible to change, heal and rewrite your story.
My personal journey has taught me that growth and healing are not easy. We can't just "give up" the stories and beliefs from our past. At least not right away. When feeling stuck in our current life, what we need is to explore our inner worlds and the stories we tell ourselves. These are not stories we consciously created. Our experiences have led us to have beliefs about ourselves, beliefs about the world, beliefs about what we are capable of achieving or even how much joy we are capable of experiencing.
You may find yourself held back by limiting beliefs from trauma, unable to move away from addictions, or be experiencing feelings of depression or anxiety. You do not have to stay stuck here. By exploring our stories, and the ways we see ourselves, we can uncover how they shape our lives, and most importantly decide which stories we want to rewrite!

I am dually licensed in Art Therapy and mental health counseling. I am able to incorporate the process of art making in addition to my other skills as a trained mental health therapist as I help you to meet your goals. Rather than only having the tool of words, we can use visual art as an additional means of expression. With this greater ability to express ourselves, I know that we can unlock more, get deeper and get there more quickly. Art making has been integral in my own healing journey. In my work with clients I often see great insight come from one art piece, insight that could have taken weeks or months for a person to realize and articulate through talk therapy alone. Art making also alleviates stress, anxiety and depression. Art making can lower stress hormones like cortisol and help you rewire connections in your brain.
Art Therapy sessions look different for each individual or group. Sessions will typically be a combination of art making as well as processing. Some clients make art in the session, while others feel more comfortable making art at home, and then we will process the finished piece in our next session. Sometimes I may even ask you to simply doodle or scribble while simultaneously talking. This is utilizing bilateral stimulation, or activating both right and left brain. This allows us to more deeply process old memories and replace them with new, more helpful neural pathways.
We've all heard the saying "a picture is worth a thousand words". Using symbolism in therapy is extremely powerful. Just like you may take away something your therapist said that particularly resonated with you, after an Art Therapy session, you may take away a powerful image or symbol that will continue to guide you between sessions. Think about symbols that resonate with you. Does anything cone to mind? What might come to mind when you think of an image of a mountain, a tree or water?
Art Therapy lends itself also to the idea of letting go of what we don't want, and moving towards what we do want. We are often very good at articulating and describing in great detail what we don't want. Often when people reach out for therapy, it's in terms of what we don't want. "I want to get out of this relationship". "I want to quit using food or substances to numb". "I want my child to stop doing this negative behavior". Often we have a harder time knowing what we will aquire in it's place. This makes it extremely hard to move away from that old story when we don't know where we are going. Art can be a great way to help us see what it is we are moving towards! I know, based on my clinical work and personal experience, that we have to be able to start to visualize the future we want before we can move toward it. Art can greatly lend itself to visualization and manfestation.
You don't have to create art to work with me, but if this is something that interests you, feel free to ask me more!

I do not work directly with any insurance companies, which provides many benefits. These include greater privacy and confidentiality, freedom of treatment, and no need for a diagnosis. I also believe we invest more in the outcome of the treatment when we see therapy as an investment in ourselves.
I am happy to provide a Super Bill. This option allows you as the client to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement for an out of network provider. You may be reimbursed for the predetermined amount by the insurance provider, and this varies from company to company. Please be aware that if this method is chosen a formal diagnosis will be required by me, your provider.
Please don't hesitate to ask about a sliding scale fee if cost is a concern, or reach out with any other questions regarding fees. I will do my best to make sure financal concerns will not deter anyone from getting the help they need.
Sign up to hear from me about upcoming groups and events!
