Often we can't find the words to describe our pain, or subconscious beliefs. Art can be that bridge when words are not enough.
Art therapy can be a powerful tool to help any issue you are facing. It can also be a way to build on our strengths and better know ourselves. Art can be used by all ages to alleviate depression, anxiety, process trauma and uncover themes in your life you may not be able to tap into in any other way. Art making is unique also in that it utilizes both sides if the brain, unlike talking which only uses our left side. This can result in quicker and deeper healing.

Often we can't pinpoint a reason, but psychotherapy can help to uncover those unconscious thoughts, feelings or limiting beliefs. I can help you come up with a plan of action to help you recover the motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life, or discover for the first time a joy you never felt!

Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger after traumatic events. Trauma can affect the way you interact in relationships and care for yourself. Did you know that "people pleasing" or perfectionism can also be the result of a traumatic past? Having a trauma informed treatment background, I can help you explore your past, overcome symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing.

I know that traditional addiction approaches don't work for everyone. Addiction recovery is like anything else in that it needs an individualized approach. There are so many more ways to tackle this issue than what you may be aware of. Even if you don't identify as an "addict" (and I absolutely do not think you have to) I also can work with you to explore and examine your relationship with alcohol, drugs, gambling, shopping, food or anything else you find that is not adding benefit to your life. Habits do not have to ruin your life before you start to take a look at them!

Art Therapy can be an extremely effective approach with kids and teens. It can alleviate the pressure to sit across from a stranger who wants them to open up and talk. It cant help them if they are nervous to talk or don't know what to say. We can simply start by making art together. Before they know it they are connecting, opening up, tackling some of their issues- and you are seeing changes in your child.

With couples who want to heal their relationship and reconnect, I will first have them complete a detailed assessment to find their strengths as a couple and determine where they struggle. I rely on Gottman Methods, as well as help individuals learn to access and express their emotions to one another, using Emotion Focused Therapy.
Also, remember that relationships are not just marriages or romantic relationships! We have relationships with our extended family, children, friends and most importantly with ourselves! When we can heal our relationship with ourself we can change the way we interact with others. Let me guide you as you explore the most important aspect of your life.
